"It’s the action and process of painting that excites me. The constant pouring out of discovery and memory and magic. Like finding another world, an oblique angle that opens up a different view, a new emotion; that damp, dark, wormy earth under a mossy green rock deep in the forest, a mirror abandoned in the street, the first moment you taste cake. It’s the panic of daybreak and the depth of twilight. Color, texture and sensual enjoyment all in a hedonistic flash. It is not politic. It is not what is spoken. Whether I "like" my painting doesn’t really matter at all. For me it is all of the gifts this infinite wonderful universe provides. By painting perhaps I can share those gifts with others."
